2023 SMLA Annual Meeting

Smith Mountain Lake Association (SMLA) announces its’ Annual Membership Meeting that will take place on Friday September 29th at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, 40 Lakemount Dr., Moneta, VA 24121.  This meeting is open to the public and we encourage you to attend.

The business meeting will be from 6:30 – 8 PM.  Doors will open at 5:30 PM with exhibits highlighting SMLA programs, along with exhibits from many of SMLA partner organizations. SMLA will provide heavy Hors d’oeuvres walk around food, snacks and coffee during the exhibits.

Bill Butterfield, President SMLA, will provide a return and report update of SMLA’s accomplishments versus plan over the past year to protect the water of SML and promote safe and responsible recreation, along with SMLA plans for 2024. We are privileged and excited to have our Keynote presentation delivered by Neil Holtshouser, Senior Environmental Coordinator at Appalachian Power. Neil will discuss the 2024 Smith Mountain Project plan (SMP) along with how SMLA and APCO work together to protect the water of SML and promote safe recreation. The business program will return and report an update of SMLA’s accomplishments versus plan over the past year to protect the water of SML and promote safe and responsible recreation, along with SMLA plans for 2024. Additionally, SMLA will present our four annual awards: for lifesaving on the lake; efforts to keep the lake safe; citizen volunteers in support of the lake; and the “spirit of the lake” award.  There will also be great door prizes.

“If you are a member of the association, a business partner, and/or a homeowner on Smith Mountain Lake, I hope you will come to learn what our amazing volunteers have accomplished this year and how those accomplishments effect you and your property value”, said Bill Butterfield, President of SMLA.
