2026 Fireworks Displays over SML

Smith Mountain Lake is a great place to watch fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July. The Smith Mountain Lake Association Water Safety Council and local law enforcement agencies establishes no-wake zones in the water around two major fireworks displays to increase safety.

No-wake zones have been defined near the major fireworks displays:

• Mitchell’s Point Marina, July 2, 2026
• Parkway Marina, July 4, 2026 (Boats with flashing amber and red lights will be present to help identify the boundaries)

Boaters are asked to go slow and enter the no-wake area at idle speed. After the fireworks have ended, boaters should depart slowly, and accelerate to safe nighttime cruising speeds only after leaving  the no-wake zone.
