Water Quality Monitoring Volunteers Needed

Volunteer Gael Chaney filters a water sample for chlorophyll-a for the SMLA Water Quality Monitoring program.
If you would like to learn more about the water quality of Smith Mountain Lake, here is your chance to join the team of volunteers who perform water sampling on the lake during the summer.
SMLA is looking for additional volunteers to sample in the Gills Creek area and in the Blackwater River near Christmas Tree Island (channel marker B9).
All you need is your own boat and one hour of your time once every two weeks for a total of six sessions. Training and supplies will be provided by SMLA.
Please contact Tom Hardy at wqm@smlassociation.org if you are interested.
