Volunteer Spotlight: Brittany Hutchison
I was born and raised in Roanoke and spent many weekends visiting Smith Mountain Lake as a child. It’s hard not to fall in love with the beauty of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Those early memories on the water helped shape my deep appreciation for this special place.
I began my real estate career at the lake in 2019, and I truly enjoy exploring all the unique communities it has to offer. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is showcasing the lake lifestyle to newcomers for the first time — seeing them experience the views, the water, and the sense of community reminds me why I love it here. There truly is something for everyone.
I joined the Smith Mountain Lake Association in 2025 because I believe strongly in its mission to keep our lake safe, clean, and thriving for generations to come. I am passionate about volunteering and giving back to the community, and SMLA provides a meaningful way for me to stay involved and help protect a place that has been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
Whether I’m boating, swimming, or simply enjoying time on the water, I feel incredibly fortunate to live so close to this beautiful lake and to stay actively connected to the community that makes it so special.
