Volunteer Spotlight: Rich Faga

My wife Doreen and I moved to SML in 2009. I have been a member of the SMLA Dock Watch program from its inception February 2024. There are 20 samplers currently in the program along with several folks analyzing the water samples. I also volunteer for the annual Take Pride in SML day.

My participation with the SML Sail and Power Squadron won the Karl Martin Water Safety Award in 2024. I teach boating safety courses and perform boat vessel safety checks supporting SMLA’s safety programs. Being a member of the Scruggs Volunteer Fire, Rescue and Dive organization and volunteering weekly at Resurrection Catholic Church have both allowed me to support our community.

My hope is to continue making the lake a better place to live and play!
