LANDSCAPE TIP: GREAT USES FOR LEAVES
Fallen leaves can be a free soil amendment for your vegetable garden and landscape beds! Run over the leaves a couple times with a lawn mower, then collect them along with grass clippings. Place the material on the surface of planting beds for a type of slow-release compost.
A light layer of whole leaves on the surface of your garden beds can also provide cover and food for birds, beneficial insects, box turtles and salamanders.
