Volunteer Spotlight: Cindy Siler
I retired to Smith Mountain Lake 5 years ago because I love lake life. When my kids were growing up, we did a lot of camping at Lake Anna and did visit SML a few times. When it came time to retire, I asked my kids, who were adults by then, which lake they preferred, Lake Anna or SML. Hands down it was SML.
I joined SMLA so I could learn more about the lake, especially regarding health and safety. The Water Safety Council seemed like the perfect fit. After seeing many boaters do unsafe things, I am happy to share what I have learned. I also volunteer to help the Communication team with social media and have been doing the Facebook and Instagram posts to get the word out there about what we do and how we keep our lake healthy and safe.
